For the past five years, the Mount Shasta 4th of July Fun Run has been one of our favorite family traditions. This year, I was joined by Mike, Lucas, Aiden, and the kids, and it was another morning filled with laughter, community, and beautiful memories.

One of my favorite parts of the run isn't just the incredible view of Mount Shasta—it's seeing familiar faces along the route. Every year, I look forward to passing my friend Ann, who is usually out in her yard, cheering everyone on while playing her drums. It's become one of those special moments that makes the event feel like coming home.

Another highlight is the Taiko drummers. Their powerful rhythms echo through the streets, giving runners an extra boost of energy and creating an atmosphere unlike any other race I've experienced. Every beat adds to the excitement and reminds me why this event is so special.

The Fun Run is about so much more than crossing the finish line. It's about spending time with family, reconnecting with friends, supporting a wonderful community, and celebrating Independence Day surrounded by one of the most beautiful mountains in California.

After the run, the festivities continue with the Fourth of July parade, local shops, great food, and all the small-town charm that makes Mount Shasta such a special place to visit.

Some traditions become part of your story, and this one has certainly become part of ours. I already can't wait for next year.

Have you ever participated in the Mount Shasta 4th of July Fun Run? What is your favorite Fourth of July tradition? I'd love to hear about it in the comments!
